Renee Z. Dominguez, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who grew up in the Western suburbs of Chicago. She went to college at Southern Methodist University on a soccer scholarship where she began to pursue her interest in human behavior and psychology. She obtained her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston in 2001 and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at La Rabida Children’s Hospital on the south side of Chicago. Dr. Dominguez specialized in treating children, adolescents, and families who had experienced psychological trauma through 2014. At La Rabida, Dr. Dominguez had many roles including postdoctoral fellow, staff psychologist, assistant director, and director. In 2014 she joined the Family Service Center of Wilmette, Glenview, Northbrook and Kenilworth as the Clinical Director, and after about one year she began to serve as the Executive Director. Dr. Dominguez has also taught courses at the graduate level at the University of Chicago and at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Additionally she has served as a consultant and expert witness within the context of civil litigation for a law firm who was representing minors who had been sexually abused.
Dr. Dominguez finds that her training as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist has opened up many career doors. In addition to being able to provide counseling services, complete psychological evaluations, and supervise psychology trainees, it has offered her the opportunity to teach, engage in research, serve as a consultant and expert witness, as well as lead a not for profit organization. Dr. Dominguez believes the versatility in this degree has given her great flexibility in her career and would be happy to talk with you about it.
